Kearney Agriculture and Research Extension Center (KARE) provides professional management, land, labor and a variety of specialized facilities for agricultural and environmental research studies and extension educational activities for the benefit of all Californians. The Center has approximately 330 acres, 120,000 sq. ft. of facilities, 17 resident researchers in the Academic Unit, serves 100 off-station researchers, up to 100 research projects, 45 crops, and 33 research laboratories. The EH&S Specialist is an integral person in a multi-faceted, highly diverse work environment. Duties involve developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and to ensure a safe workplace.

This position works closely and collaboratively with the UC ANR Risk & Safety Services unit to implement safety and environmental compliance programs at KARE and other UC ANR locations. In coordination with UC ANR Risk & Safety Services, may conduct routine inspections, accident investigations, respirator fit testing, ergonomic evaluations, safety training, and other similar tasks, consistent with UC ANRwide safety and risk programs. May represent UC ANR on UC systemwide EH&S workgroups. 

This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.

Pay Scale: $65,300.00 to $91,800.00/yr.

This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
