Amrita Mukherjee is the Urban Agriculture and Small Farms Advisor, serving Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange counties. As a horticulturist, she has more than 7 years of research and extension experience on plant biology and post-harvest physiology related to small farms and urban farms.

Mukherjee coordinates training, technical assistance and resources for small organic growers. She works with UC Master Gardener volunteers to extend research knowledge on food and garden sustainability to local communities. Prior to joining UC Cooperative Extension, Mukherjee worked for the International Rice Research Institute where she examined flash flood risk management in Bangladesh. She also worked as an Assistant Specialist in Bangladesh for the Horticulture Innovation Lab's management team at UC Davis, focusing on the nutrition impacts of horticultural innovations.

Specialty areas:
Organic farming and production, soil nutrient management, post-harvest management, horticulture, subtropical fruits, leafy vegetables, integrated pest management systems, climate change and controlled environment agriculture.
